Materials & Care Guide

Regular, gentle care helps footwear keep its shape, comfort and appearance. Always check the material listed on the product page before cleaning, and test any product on a small hidden area first.

Before cleaning

  • Remove loose dust and dirt with a soft dry brush or cloth.
  • Remove detachable accessories where practical.
  • Do not mix cleaning products or use household bleach.
  • Allow footwear to dry naturally before assessing any remaining marks.

Smooth leather

Wipe away surface dust with a soft, dry cloth. Apply a small amount of cleaner or conditioner made for the specific leather finish, following the product instructions. Buff gently and let the footwear dry naturally. Conditioning can deepen the colour of some leathers, so always test first.

Suede and nubuck

Let mud or moisture dry completely, then brush gently with a suede or nubuck brush. Work in one direction to lift the nap. Use a specialist suede cleaner for stubborn marks. Do not soak the material or apply ordinary leather cream.

Synthetic uppers

Wipe with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Use a second clean damp cloth to remove residue, then air dry. Avoid solvents, abrasive pads and concentrated detergents.

Water-ready materials

Rinse off salt, sand and chlorine with fresh water after use. Wipe clean with mild soap when needed and air dry in the shade. Water-ready does not mean heat-resistant: keep footwear away from hot surfaces, dryers and enclosed vehicles in strong sunlight.

Footbeds and linings

Let footwear air between wears. For dry surface dirt, use a soft brush. Avoid saturating suede-lined or absorbent footbeds because excess water can affect texture, adhesive and shape. Do not apply oils or heavy conditioner to a footbed.

Cork-style edges

If your footwear has an exposed natural-cork edge, keep it away from prolonged soaking. When the edge looks dry, use a purpose-made cork sealer according to its instructions. Do not apply sealer to the footbed or upper.

Drying and storage

  • Air dry at room temperature in a ventilated place.
  • Keep away from radiators, hair dryers, tumble dryers and direct high heat.
  • Do not machine wash unless the individual product page specifically permits it.
  • Store clean and dry, away from prolonged direct sunlight and heavy objects that may distort the shape.

Colour and natural variation

Natural leather and suede can vary in grain, tone and texture. Darkening, softening and a gradual patina may occur with wear and are not necessarily defects. Dyed materials may transfer colour when wet, especially during early wear.
